User manual
Getting started
AllCalc Pro runs entirely in your browser — no installation required. Open the app, choose your discipline from the sidebar, and start calculating.
The interface at a glance
The top bar contains the AllCalc Pro logo, a Projects button, the Imperial/Metric toggle, a language picker, and your settings/avatar menu.
The left sidebar lists all seven discipline modes. Click any discipline to switch — your current inputs are preserved while you navigate.
Each discipline opens a tabbed panel. Tabs are grouped by workflow stage — for example, the QS panel opens on the BOQ tab and progresses through Take-off, Cost Planning, Variations, and so on.
Imperial vs metric units
The IMP / MET toggle in the top bar switches all inputs and outputs between imperial and metric units simultaneously. You never need to re-enter values — AllCalc Pro converts them automatically.
Imperial mode uses feet, inches, pounds, and Fahrenheit. Metric mode uses metres, millimetres, kilograms, and Celsius. Structural calculations follow AISC (imperial) or Eurocode-compatible values (metric) depending on the active mode.
Switching languages
Click the language picker in the top bar to choose from 10 supported languages including English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Arabic (RTL), and more.
The interface, labels, and export headers switch immediately. Your saved project data is not affected by a language change.
NRM2 vs SMM7 standard
Inside the QS panel, a toggle at the top of the BOQ tab switches between NRM2 (RICS New Rules of Measurement 2) and SMM7 (Standard Method of Measurement 7). This changes the work section codes, item descriptions, and measurement rules applied throughout the BOQ.
NRM2 is the current RICS standard and is recommended for new projects. SMM7 is retained for legacy projects and jurisdictions that still reference it.
Quantity Surveying
The QS panel covers the full bill of quantities lifecycle — from initial take-off through to final account and contract close-out.
Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
The BOQ tab presents 8 NRM2 work sections (or SMM7 equivalents) with 75+ pre-loaded line items. Add rows using the item library of ~100 standard items, or enter custom descriptions.
Each row captures: item code, description, unit, quantity, rate, and amount. Totals roll up automatically per section and across the full BOQ.
Export the BOQ to a branded PDF report or Excel spreadsheet using the Export button at the top right of the panel.
Bid analysis
The Bid Analysis sub-tab allows you to import contractor Excel files and compare their section totals side by side. Upload up to five contractor bids and AllCalc Pro highlights the lowest price per section.
Use the comparison table to identify outliers, query anomalies, and prepare your tender recommendation report.
Tracking BOQ & EVM
The Tracking BOQ tab links your BOQ to actual progress. Enter percentage complete per section to calculate Earned Value (EV), and input actual costs to derive Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI).
The EVM dashboard displays an S-curve comparing planned value, earned value, and actual cost over time. Use Save & Lock to create audit trail snapshots at each valuation date.
Variations & dayworks
Log variations with a reference number, description, status (pending/approved/rejected), and value. The running variation account updates the contract sum automatically.
Dayworks records capture labour, plant, and materials on a time-and-materials basis. Attach document references using the paperclip icon on any variation row.
Structural Engineering
The Structural panel provides design checks for beams, columns, slabs, foundations, steel sections, connections, and lateral loads.
Beam & column design
Enter span, loading (dead, live, wind), and section dimensions. AllCalc Pro calculates bending moment, shear force, and deflection, and checks them against allowable limits.
For reinforced concrete, input concrete grade and rebar details to get required steel area and utilisation ratios.
Wind & seismic loads (ASCE 7)
Input site parameters (exposure category, basic wind speed, importance factor) to calculate design wind pressures per ASCE 7-22.
For seismic, enter site class, spectral acceleration values, and occupancy category to derive the seismic design category and base shear.
Civil Engineering
The Civil panel covers earthworks, road design, drainage, hydraulics, geotechnical analysis, and pavement design.
Earthworks & mass haul
Enter cross-section areas at regular chainages to calculate cut and fill volumes using the prismoidal formula. The mass haul diagram shows cumulative volumes and identifies balance points.
Adjust swell and shrinkage factors for different soil types. The optimised haul plan minimises double-handling and waste disposal costs.
Drainage & culvert sizing
Use the Rational Method to calculate peak runoff from catchment area, rainfall intensity, and runoff coefficient. Size pipes and channels using Manning's equation.
Culvert sizing checks inlet and outlet control conditions and recommends a barrel diameter and invert level.
Architectural
The Architectural panel handles room scheduling, stair geometry, building performance calculations, and compliance checks.
Room areas & stair design
Build a room area schedule by entering room names, dimensions, and finishes. Gross internal area (GIA) and net internal area (NIA) are calculated automatically.
Stair design checks going, rise, pitch angle, and headroom against building regulation limits. Enter floor-to-floor height and preferred going to get the optimum number of risers.
Accessibility (ADA / BS 8300)
The accessibility checker evaluates door widths, ramp gradients, turning circles, and reach ranges against ADA (US) and BS 8300 (UK) requirements.
Each check returns a pass/fail status with the relevant clause reference, making it straightforward to prepare a compliance schedule.
MEP Engineering
The MEP panel covers HVAC, duct and pipe sizing, electrical load calculations, cable sizing, and lighting design.
HVAC load calculation
Enter room dimensions, glazing area, orientation, occupancy, and equipment loads to calculate sensible and latent heat gains. AllCalc Pro applies ASHRAE fundamentals to size cooling and heating plant.
Duct sizing uses the equal friction method. Enter airflow rate and select a duct shape to get recommended dimensions and velocity.
Cable sizing (IEC / BS 7671)
Enter design current, circuit length, installation method, and ambient temperature. AllCalc Pro applies correction factors and selects the minimum cable cross-section from IEC 60364 / BS 7671 tables.
Voltage drop is checked against the 3% (lighting) and 5% (power) limits. The output shows selected cable size, actual voltage drop, and earth fault loop impedance.
Project Management
The PM panel follows PMBOK 7th edition across 12 tabs — from project setup through programme, budget, risk, and contract close-out.
Programme (CPM/PERT & Gantt)
Add activities with durations, predecessors, and resource assignments. AllCalc Pro calculates early start, early finish, late start, late finish, and float for each activity using the Critical Path Method.
The Gantt chart renders automatically and updates in real time as you adjust the programme. PERT three-point estimates (optimistic, most likely, pessimistic) are available for activities with high uncertainty.
Earned Value Management (ANSI 748)
Set up the performance measurement baseline (PMB) by distributing budget across activities. At each reporting period, enter actual cost and percentage complete to calculate EV, CPI, SPI, EAC, and VAC.
The EVM dashboard displays trend lines for PV, EV, and AC, and projects the estimate at completion (EAC) using three forecasting methods.
Risk register
Log risks with probability, impact, risk score, owner, and response strategy (avoid, transfer, mitigate, accept). The risk matrix visualises the distribution of risks by score.
Residual risk scores are tracked after mitigation actions are applied, giving a before-and-after comparison for reporting.
Loss Adjusting
The Loss Adjusting panel supports insurance reinstatement assessments, depreciation schedules, business interruption calculations, and contents valuations.
Reinstatement cost assessment
Enter building type, gross floor area, construction specification, and location to calculate the reinstatement cost using BCIS-aligned rates. The output includes demolition, rebuild, professional fees, and VAT.
Adjust for site-specific factors such as restricted access, contamination, or listed building status using the factor inputs.
Business interruption
Enter the insured gross profit, indemnity period, and the proportion of turnover affected by the loss. AllCalc Pro calculates the gross profit loss, savings and expenses, and the net claim.
Trend adjustments and special circumstances can be applied to reflect the business trajectory prior to the loss.
Projects
The Projects system lets you save, organise, and switch between multiple calculation sets. Each project stores its own BOQ, programme, budget, and documents.
Creating and switching projects
Click the Projects button in the top bar to open the project manager. Click New Project, enter a name and reference number, and click Create.
To switch projects, open the project manager and click the project name. All panels update to show that project's saved data.
Document management
Each project has a Documents tab inside the QS Contract Management panel. Upload PDF, image, DWG, DOCX, XLSX, or CSV files up to 10 MB each.
Documents are stored locally in your browser. Use the search and filter tools to find files by type or name. A paperclip badge on variation rows links directly to matching reference documents.
Export
Every panel in AllCalc Pro can export its results to a branded PDF report or a CSV/Excel spreadsheet.
Exporting to PDF
Click the Export PDF button at the top right of any panel. AllCalc Pro generates a branded A4 PDF report with your project name, reference number, date, and all calculated outputs.
PDF exports include the AllCalc Pro logo and a footer with the standard reference (e.g. NRM2, ASCE 7) used for the calculation. Enterprise plans can replace the logo with your own firm branding.
Exporting to CSV / Excel
Click Export CSV to download a comma-separated file of the active tab's data. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet application.
Professional and Enterprise plans can export the full BOQ as a formatted Excel workbook with section headings, totals, and conditional formatting preserved.
